Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a diploma or degree in a social services field, such as DSW, CYW, SSW, Psychology, Sociology, or other related studies.

Job Requirements:

· 2-3 years recent and relevant experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis. Experience working with high risk, marginalized and vulnerable populations.

· Proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment.

· Current First Aid & CPR and C.P.I certification.

· A clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check- within three (3) months.

· Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.

Transportation/Travel: A valid Driver’s License with appropriate insurance, clean driving record, with a minimum G2 and must have a reliable vehicle, the role requires using personal vehicle for daily driving in the community.

Qualifications:

· Comprehensive understanding of developmental disabilities, mental health conditions and substance use challenges, with the commitment to person-centered, trauma informed support.

· Knowledge and application in trauma informed practices, with an understanding of how trauma impacts substance use and ability to respond with sensitivity and without judgment.

· Experience in motivational interviewing techniques to effectively engage individuals and enhance motivation for change in a non confrontational supportive manner.

· Proven skills in conflict resolution, mediation, and crisis intervention.

· Ability to motivate and support individuals in engaging with social, recreational, and educational activities.

· Experience working in community-based or residential environments, with familiarity with infection prevention practices, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to agency policies for managing settings where pests may occasionally be present.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

· Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and sound judgment in dynamic situations.

· Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook Excel)

Responsibilities:

· Assist individuals in building skills and accessing supports related to personal safety, healthy relationships, crisis management, health care appointments, community navigation and housing stability within their community settings.

· Deliver coaching and support across diverse life skill areas, including effective communication, interpersonal development, nutritional planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, maintaining personal hygiene, time management, and financial literacy.

· Encourage and support individuals in self advocacy, while advocating on their behalf as appropriate.

· In collaboration with individuals, their families, chosen support networks, community agencies, and healthcare professionals to connect them with services and resources that support their goals.

· Conduct internal assessments to support individuals in achieving their goals for increase in functional independence and active community engagement.

· Participate in the preparation and review of the individual support plan (ISP), applying the agency’s guiding principles, and consistently implement and monitor progress toward their identified goals.

· Adhere to professional and ethical standards while complying with all applicable legislation and regulations.

· Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to all documented behavioural, medical, and crisis protocols.

· Support other relevant duties that may be developed or assigned.

Work Environment:

· Work is primarily community-based, in individuals’ homes and various community settings.

· Travel between locations is required: mileage reimbursement is provided.

· Work may involve managing crisis situations and supporting individuals experiencing mental health, or substance use challenges, with training and protocols in place to ensure staff safety and support.

Position Details: Full-time permanent 37.5 hours per week, Salary $27.79, Mon to Fri but maybe required to work evenings and weekends dependent on client or program needs.

Agency providesre-certification in crisis prevention & intervention, First Aid & CPR, regular access to professional development and refreshers in health & safety practices, trauma informed care and harm reduction approaches. Access to employee assistance (EAP) available to support staff well-being and resilience. Mileage reimbursement for work related use of personal vehicle. Benefits include Dental Care, extended health care, life insurance, paid time off.
