As a member of Carya’s Families in Community team, the Family & Community Facilitator supports families with children aged 0–6 by fostering connections, strengthening parenting skills and relationships, and deepening understanding of early childhood development. We serve the following Calgary neighbourhoods: the EAST team supports East Village, Downtown, Inglewood, Ramsay, and Bridgeland, while the WEST team serves Bowness, Montgomery, and surrounding NW areas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Responsibilities
- Build meaningful relationships with families across various settings, including one-on-one support, cohort group facilitation such as Parent Child Mother Goose, Infant Massage, Circle of Security, Parent Chat and informal groups such as Drop-in Play.
- Respond to the developmental and relational needs of families and individual members by supporting natural connections, nurturing confidence, and providing relevant learning, resources and information.
- Foster trust and strong relationships by creating welcoming environments, offering purposeful activities, and responding to community needs. This includes maintaining strong connections with families, community partners, and colleagues.
- Apply a strength-based approach in all family and community interactions, focusing on what is right, possible, and strong.
- Demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and a solutions-focused mindset when working in dynamic, evolving, and sometimes ambiguous environments.

WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with families including engagement with young children (ages 0–6) and providing opportunities for adult learning.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and attachment theory an asset.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills, along with effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to utilize a strength-based, participant-centered approach.
- Enthusiasm for and experience in working with families and young children age 0-6, in various community spaces and community partners.
- A positive attitude and the ability to balance a commitment to quality service are essential.
- Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Completion of, or experience with family programs such as Parent-Child Mother Goose, Circle of Security, Theraplay, and Infant Massage is considered an asset.
- Experience and knowledge in supporting families in 1-1 settings an asset.
- Completion of Natural Supports Framework training required is an asset.
- Certification with the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative’s Core Brain Story is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 with a focus on SharePoint, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize your emails and calendar.
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance are required.
