CNC Machinist Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in CNC programming, operating CNC lathes and milling machines, and reading blueprints.
Reporting to the Lead Machinist, the Machinist is responsible for the machining of metal parts that meet dimensional specifications of mechanical engineered drawings.
Responsibilities
- Use manual, semi-automated, and CNC machinery such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce precision metal parts.
- Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
- Take measurements and mark material for machining.
- Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job.
- Determine and program size of batches, speed of machine, etc.
- Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.
- Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
- When required perform grinding, sanding and polishing.
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
- Check quality of machined product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for subsequent production steps.
- Monitor condition and quantity of machining tools and other related supplies and report to the Lead Machinist when replenishment is needed.
- Use a crane, pallet mover, or forklift to relocate processed parts, bins, or skids to a designated area for further production steps or shipping area if completed.
- Keep all work areas clean and organized.
- Clean up and maintain the immediate work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Complete records as required.
- Detect faulty equipment, improper operations, and unusual conditions and report it to supervisor.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements and calculations during machining processes.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely is advantageous.
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g. callipers) to take accurate measurements
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
