Job Summary

The Cloud Administrator is responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing the day-to-day operations of cloud infrastructure platforms and services within the organization. This role involves ensuring the security, availability, and performance of cloud computing resources, as well as administrating best practices for cloud management.

Job Duties:

Monitors and maintains cloud infrastructure, platforms and services including virtual machines, storage, and networking resources, ensuring that systems are running smoothly and efficiently; addresses any issues that may arise.

Configures and maintains multi-cloud and/or hybrid cloud platform services, and contributes to the development of solution architectures and deployment of solutions onto the WCB’s cloud environment.

Collaborates with other IT teams by implementing security measures to protect cloud resources from cyber threats and data breaches; deploys and supports cloud-based applications and services.

Optimizes cloud performance through system capacity planning, allocation, and troubleshooting.

Automates cloud management tasks using scripting or infrastructure as code tools.

Conducts regular audits and assessments of cloud resources to ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

Provides technical support and troubleshooting for cloud and network related issues and incidents, including TCP/IP, DNS, and VPNs.

Stays up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in cloud concepts and protocols, designing, deploying, and managing CDN configurations and recommends improvements and enhancements.

Monitors and reports on cloud consumption trends and identifies optimization opportunities.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized degree or diploma program in an IT related discipline; Computer Science is preferred

Minimum five (5) years Information Technology experience, including minimum three (3) years related to IT infrastructure/cloud system administration, cloud technologies, networking and security

Knowledge of cloud security principles with the ability to apply knowledge and best practices into the cloud landing zone design

Proficient in cloud platform administration such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, and skilled in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues

Experience with cloud management and automation tools such as Azure Automation, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, as well as programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
Knowledge of FinOps concepts and terminology, such as financial accountability in cloud services, cost optimization strategies, budgeting, and forecasting

Ability to independently plan and organize workload and meet tight deadlines

Ability to develop professional documents for standard operating procedures and processes

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including excellent presentation skills

Ability to foster positive working relationships with partners and stakeholders, including managed service providers and external vendors

The ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset, but is not required

Additional Information

Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset.
