Job Overview
As a Business Analyst – Data & Analytics, you’ll be pivotal in translating complex business needs into actionable data solutions. You’ll lead requirements gathering, design, and delivery of trusted and reliable enterprise data products and analytics platforms.
Your role is central to enabling a data-driven culture at SNDL by ensuring enterprise data is timely, accurate, trusted, and accessible for business and analytical use.
You’ll report to the Director, Data & Analytics and work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to deliver high-value data and analytics solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to define and document analytics requirements and data product specifications.
- Lead discovery and design sessions, using techniques such as wireframing, whiteboarding, and process mapping to translate business needs into actionable solutions.
- Collaborate with data engineers to design, deliver, and support scalable data pipelines, data products, and analytics solutions.
- Define and maintain business-facing data catalogs, data definitions, and glossaries to enhance data literacy and trust across the enterprise.
- Support data governance and quality initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, IT change controls).
- Create user stories, functional specifications, and test plans in Azure DevOps or equivalent tools to drive delivery through Agile frameworks.
- Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and support end-user training and adoption of analytics products.
- Proactively monitor production analytics systems, triaging and resolving issues in collaboration with business and technical teams.
- Contribute to the evolution of SNDL’s data and analytics strategy and roadmap by researching industry trends and recommending innovative solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst in data, analytics, and business intelligence domains.
- Proven ability to deliver and support enterprise analytics solutions using modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric).
- Strong understanding of data architectures (data warehouse, data lakehouse, data mesh) and CI/CD data pipelines supporting analytics platforms.
- Working knowledge of data governance frameworks and data quality management.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes, particularly extracting data from ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations) for analytical consumption.
- Proficiency with BI tools (ex. Power BI).
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methods, including user story creation, backlog management, and sprint planning.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to produce clear and concise documentation, including process flows, data models, and analytics artifacts.
- Business Analysis certification (IIBA CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent). Agile certification (Scrum Product Owner) is an asset.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.
