Job Description:
We are currently hiring both experienced seamstresses and novice sewists to join our studio for the busy upcoming bridal season. This is a part-time role from August to December, with the potential to transition into a full-time position in 2026 as we continue to expand.
We are looking for two types of candidates:
- Experienced Seamstresses – Ideally with a background in costume design, pattern drafting, or high-end garment construction. Candidates with these advanced skills will be offered higher compensation, reflective of their expertise.
- Novice Seamstresses – If you have basic sewing knowledge, a great attitude, and strong people skills, we offer comprehensive training in bridal alterations. You’ll also be trained to assist with fittings and expected to provide warm, professional customer service during client appointments. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with their hands and enjoys making people feel confident and cared for.
Responsibilities:
- Perform basic to advanced sewing tasks depending on experience.
- Thread and operate industrial sewing machines.
- Support bridal fittings and communicate clearly and kindly with clients.
- Participate in training sessions to learn our studio’s bridal alteration techniques.
- Ensure all garments are completed to our high standard of quality and precision.
- Collaborate with the team to meet deadlines and deliver excellent client experiences.
Requirements:
- For experienced applicants: Background in costume design, fashion design, pattern drafting, or professional alterations is strongly preferred.
- For novice applicants: Basic sewing knowledge and comfort using sewing machines required.
- Ability to work with industrial sewing machines and thread various machine types.
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for quality craftsmanship.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; fittings might be part of the role.
- Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be available to work in-person at our Richmond Hill studio.
