Opportunity


We are seeking a temporary Bladerunners Program Facilitator to join our WorkBC Centre team. The candidate, above all else, must fundamentally value genuine inclusivity and believe that we, as a community, are ethically accountable for the health and wellness of all who live here.


Overview

  • Hours: 32 hours/week
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday (with the possibility of an occasional Friday, dependent on program needs)
  • Job Type: Temporary (16 weeks)

Summary


The Bladerunners program helps participants aged 16 to 30, with multiple barriers to employment, successfully transition into the workplace. By providing essential certifications, work placement opportunities, job search support, and personal guidance, Bladerunners helps to ensure participants have what it takes to get hired.


The Bladerunners Program Facilitator is responsible for delivering the Bladerunners program. The BladeRunners Facilitator collaborates with WorkBC staff, employment counsellors, and the Employment Services Manager to deliver a 3-week classroom and 2-week work placement program. The Facilitator is responsible for completing intakes, developing and delivering curriculum and learning activities, and ensuring required documentation is completed.


Responsibilities


Facilitation


  • Facilitate 3-week life skills and employment workshop
  • Provide one-on-one life/employment coaching to youth at risk
  • Coordinate work placements, in collaboration with Work BC staff
  • Provide support and track progress
  • Adjust workshop curriculum and activities in response to emerging safety, technological, and client needs
  • Work with staff and BladeRunners provincial liaisons to complete BladeRunners program administrative details
  • Ensure attendance/registration procedures are in place, invoicing is completed and participant allowances are paid, where appropriate
  • Ensure clients meet all aspects of the BladeRunners outcome, including obtaining certificates, attending training courses, and finishing the 3 weeks successfully.
  • Consult with Work BC staff and Employment Services Manager, on client progress, action plans, and other employment-related goals, including training and job search
  • Provide individual support to participants, be available for participants before and after group sessions as required
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to clients, colleagues and agency

Preparation and Intake


  • Prepare and update life skills and employment workshops
  • Work with the Work BC staff to assess client eligibility and suitability for program
  • Ensure food supports, workshop supplies and external training sessions are arranged and in place before the program begins

Post-Program Support


  • Review and evaluate program components and conduct evaluations, including client follow-up and outcomes
  • Collaborate with Work BC staff to track client progress and support successful outcomes

Qualifications


Education and Experience


  • Diploma in human services field or post-secondary education combined with related and proven experience in employment training field; a combination of related education and experience will be considered
  • Certification or demonstrated experience as: facilitator, job placement or employment Counsellor, or life skills coach
  • The ability to create lesson plans and activities that address a variety of learning styles
  • A background working with and instructing unemployed young adult learners an asset
  • Knowledge of current resume and cover-letter content and formats
  • Current advanced computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Canva)
  • Knowledge of social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Knowledge of job readiness requirements in Powell River labour market
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to contribute effectively within a team
  • Excellent capacity to learn quickly and adapt to changing demands
