Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre is looking for a Therapeutic Fitness Facilitator to join our team on Wednesday mornings as part of our Adult Day Club on Wednesdays from 9-11 am. The Therapeutic Fitness Facilitator will be responsible for creating a complete physical fitness routine for seniors.
Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre & Position Overview
Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre is a community centre in Winnipeg’s North End that caters to seniors. Our members are seniors from the community that gather for a luncheon on Wednesday afternoons for a meal, bingo and entertainment. We are looking to add to this program by providing a morning component of a fitness class and an art therapy session.
The therapeutic Fitness Facilitator will function as a resource to participants (seniors) by leading them in a full body fitness routine. Fitness Facilitator will then assist the Therapeutic Art Facilitator for the second hour of the program. Together these two positions will share responsibilities and provide input for the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centres Adult Day Club.
Qualifications
- Implement exercise and programs for seniors that focus on increasing mobility, pain relief, building strength, and improving balance
- Provide a consistent approach to prevent falls, reduce injuries, improve awareness of safety within the participant’s daily activities, develop understanding of risks, falls prevention strategies, post-fall injuries, as well as increase participants’ independence, mobility and quality of life
- Be responsible for classroom setup and ensuring participants are able to enter program site
- Support and participate in the development and implementation of programs and objectives
Salary: $20.00 to $30.00 /hour
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
Experience:
- Personal Training: 1 year (preferred)
