BANQUET CHEF

The Banquet Chef offers an effective and proactive approach to banquet food preparation and delivery. This position provides training and mentorship to members of the culinary team while ensuring professional demeanor of kitchen personnel. The Banquet Chef’s responsibilities include preparing and executing work plans along with coordinating, and executing banquet services, as required, in a consistent, quality-oriented manner. The Banquet Chef analyzes and troubleshoots the banquet operations, identifying and communicating potential problems in a proactive manner. Promoting, monitoring, and enforcing safe work practices in compliance with the Centre’s safety and health programs and applicable legislation are additional components of this role.
The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of culinary experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry and have completed 1 year of post secondary training at a recognized community college in the culinary field, or have the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The candidate will have a creative and consistent food preparation ability and be a service orientated individual with a strong guest experience approach. Experience with food handling, rotation, and storage of food products and supplies is required along with effective verbal and written communication skills. Safe Food Handler certification is a strong asset.
In this position, you will report directly to the Executive Chef, while working closely with members of the culinary team and coordinating with other departments to deliver outstanding experiences. As an ambassador of the Centre, your collaboration will add to the successful execution of events while contributing to our local tourism industry.
This is a scheduled position with salary in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Convention Centre Corporation and the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Local 500.
