Apprentice Trainer/Dog Walker

It is fast paced job that requires a calm and confident temperament, time management skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently and productively alone while maintaining good communication with the rest of the team.
This position consists of a few roles:
Dog Walking: Driving to clients houses, walking and implementing individualized training plans for the dog, taking photos and videos of the dog's work, utilizing a system to sign services in and out, and completing daily reports. Shifts over 5 hours receive a 30 minute unpaid break, driving time is paid and mileage pay is provided.
Assisting Training Sessions: Write notes and assist a certified trainer in a personalized training session for a client, write out the training plan created by the trainer.
Assisting Classes: Help a certified trainer offer coaching and feedback to clients, demonstrate exercises, and manage a group class.
Training is in-person with coaching from experienced dog trainers. Employees will not be working on their own until completing a provided pet first aid course and proving their abilities to our training team. This position has a steep learning curve and is not a good fit for anyone who is anxious or uneasy around large, loud, or energetic dogs. As dog trainers, we work with dogs with a variety of behavioural issues.
A successful candidate would have:
- A reliable vehicle and drivers license
- Minimum 1 year experience in the pet industry (fostering, volunteering, dog daycare, pet store, work with wildlife, horse experience, etc.)
- Weekday availability
- Efficient communication skills
- Good organization skills
- An abundance of patience for both animals and humans
Starting Wage: $15.80/hour
