Sustainable Agriculture Contract Instructors

FACULTY OVERVIEW:

The Faculty of Science offers experiential learning through hands-on curriculum, co-ops and research collaboration opportunities with KPU’s Institute for Sustainable Horticulture (ISH), Institute for Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS), and Applied Genomics Centre (AGC). As well, our faculty is home to over a hectare of horticulture field lab, a working farm and a state-of-the art teaching brewery, which has been recognized internationally and locally, winning BC Brewery of the Year in 2019.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Department of Sustainable Agriculture, is currently seeking Non-Regular Type 1 (Contract) Instructors to teach in the following areas: Foundational Concepts of Sustainable Food Systems and Agroecology. These courses are part of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Agriculture.
Fall semester commences September 1 and runs until December 31, 2025. Spring semester commences January 1 and runs until April 30, 2026:
- AGRI 1150: Foundations of Sustainable Agriculture – Fall Semester
- AGRI 4298: Agroecology as a Global Movement – Fall Semester
Successful candidates will be responsible for covering the relevant topics in the context of sustainable agriculture and food systems and should include expertise in sustainable production systems and agroecology. The successful candidates will work with the Department faculty in the development and delivery of these courses and support with content will be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will lecture and converse fluently in English, and possess at a minimum, a Master’s degree (PhD in related field is preferred). Demonstrated record of teaching experience is required.

SALARY INFORMATION:
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
