As the Field Technician, you will be responsible for soil sampling, mapping fields, and assisting in the fields, which is an integral part of the SWAT process at Croptimistic. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be a member on the Farmer Services team while communicating with multiple departments and learning about our SWAT ECOSYSTEM. The successful candidate will reside in Yorkton, SK, or within a one hour radius.
Responsibilities
- Soil sample fields using SWAT MAPS, following GPS-referenced points
- Map fields, collecting geo-referenced electrical conductivity, RTK elevation, and field boundaries
- Assist with agronomy work, including in-season variable-rate field assessments, plant stand counts, insect and disease scouting
- Assist GIS with making prescription files and yield and data cleaning
- Prep variable rate and SWAT CAM reports
- Champion the brand
- Assist with weather station install, removal, and maintenance if requested
Requirements
- Class 5 driver’s license (abstract may be requested)
- Must be willing to work overtime, including Saturdays
- Able to travel, including overnight stays
- Flexible, with an ability to pivot depending on seasonal needs
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently
- High-level of integrity and commitment to providing unrivaled service
- Physical ability to twist upper body
- Basic mechanical knowledge and/or experience considered an asset
- Relevant education and/or experience in agriculture, with knowledge of Western Canadian agriculture specifically, would be advantageous
