Calgary Progressive Lifestyles Foundation (CPLF) is registered not-for-profit charitable organization that serves people with disabilities. Founded in 1989, today CPLF is considered one of Calgary's premier service providers supporting people with disabilities at work, at home, and in the community.
The successful candidates will accommodate clients in YOUR home and support in all areas of daily living such as relationship building and leisure participation, as well as mental health and behavioral support. Strong communication and teamwork skills are required to succeed in this position, as is the ability to liaise with family and managers.
The ideal candidate;
- Will be responsible to assist individual with home living activities and ensuring the safety and wellness of the individual.
- Will be required to provide companionship as well as promote community inclusion.
- Is able to implement the activities outlined in the Individual Service Plan.
- Closely follows agency Philosophy and Values in all aspects of service delivery.
- Must attend monthly support team meetings, bringing forward information or concerns regarding the individual clients’ service.
- Keep daily logs and documentation of activities.
- Assist with and/or accompany individuals to appointments as required.
- Ensure that the individuals’ health, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.
- Must have experience to support complex needs client.
The ideal support home should:
- Have Basement Suite.
- Have no other supported individuals in the home.
- Have no minors.
- Needs to be home evening and overnight
- Preferred candidates who are retired, work from home or home maker
*Please note that a home inspection of the candidates' home will be carried out to confirm the suitability of the home before progressing to the next stage.
Requirements:
- Female staff.
- Needs to be watchful and to ensure not missing any smallest cue coming from client.
- In the evenings and overnight (3:00 pm – 9:00 am) contractor needs to be at home available to engage client and to provide support as per need
- Staff needs to be a team player and have good communication verbal and written
- Previous experience as a caregiver or in a related field is an asset.
- Relevant Supportive care certifications such as First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration certifications etc.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with clients
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Medication administration training, Crisis Prevention Intervention training, Abuse Protocol Training, and Positive Behavior Support training will be provided at cost.
