About UCeed Funds (Calgary Alberta)
Since its inception in 2020, UCeed has become one of Alberta¿s most active early-stage investors. UCeed is the University of Calgary¿s group of six start-up investment funds ($28M AUM) which is managed by a small team of professionals at Innovate Calgary. In addition to investing and portfolio support activities, the UCeed group is responsible for managing Innovate Calgary¿s portfolio of equity and royalty holdings and overseeing the development, selection, and divestment of these assets. Where applicable, the UCeed team also takes an active role in coaching and mentorship to assist UCeed portfolio companies.

UCeed ¿ Analyst
Reporting to the Executive Director and Operating Partner this Analyst role is focused on identifying companies and founders seeking early-stage capital with a particular focus on unusual suspects including innovators from under-estimated groups. As an Analyst you will play a major role in evaluating the strength of these opportunities and work with a small of team to help advance them along the entrepreneurial journey toward investment and sustainable revenue. This is a temporary role with an end date of December 31, 2026.
Key Duties
- Source, screen, and manage a pipeline of companies or founders with high potential that are seeking access to early-stage capital with a particular focus on BIPOC and gender-diverse communities

Coordinate and administer specific aspects of the Cenvous EDI initiative which include but are not limited to:
o Ecosystem navigation for program participants
o Coordination of advisors & mentorship for program participants
o Capture feedback and learning around inclusion efforts into the UCeed family of funds - To create and/or contribute to key process documents necessary to advance companies within the Cenovus EDI and UCeed pipelines
- Help prepare for UCeed steering committee and/or approval meetings
Other Duties:
- Attend workshops and networking events to develop relationships with community-based technology and innovation-based organizations
- CRM tracking of all potential investees and portfolio companies
Personal Characteristics:
- Curiosity and critical thinking
- Analytical abilities with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in an evolving environment with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written skills, specifically in communicating key metrics and data sets
- Ability to work unsupervised with a `get things done¿ attitude and a willingness to explore outside of areas of expertise
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- PowerPoint and pitch deck development experience
- Degree from an accredited college or university
- Familiarity with CRM software and Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Ability to develop business knowledge to leverage best technologies and practices
- Ability to interact with a variety of cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
