EPIC Recovery is an established leader in community-based private care, conveniently located on Wellington Road. We offer flexible, community support, expertly designed to help individuals seamlessly integrate their healing journey into daily life. Our experienced team provides diverse and comprehensive services directly from our welcoming centre.
Looking ahead, Forest City Healing Centre (FCHC) is an eagerly anticipated, residential care environment, opening soon on Queens Avenue. This dedicated centre will provide an all-male residential setting for those seeking a more immersive and focused healing experience. EPIC Recovery is proud to be providing all clinical staffing for FCHC. This means that if you're a successful candidate for a clinical role at FCHC, you'll be an EPIC Recovery employee, subcontracted to work at this groundbreaking new location.

Position Summary
Peer Support Workers offer hope, connection, and mentorship to individuals navigating recovery. Grounded in lived experience, this role is about walking alongside others — not fixing them. Through empathy, active listening, and presence, peer staff help create a culture of authenticity, belonging, and trust.
Peer support is non-clinical and non-authoritative. It is based on mutual respect and shared understanding, and plays a powerful role in helping clients feel seen, heard, and supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Build supportive, peer-based relationships rooted in trust and shared experience
- Provide one-on-one peer check-ins, informal mentoring, and group support (as assigned)
- Role model healthy boundaries, coping strategies, emotional regulation, and structure
- Offer encouragement and grounding during moments of emotional distress or conflict
- Help clients engage in daily routines, group activities, and recovery-focused habits
- Maintain appropriate records or notes on peer interactions (as required)
- Attend team meetings and collaborate with counsellors and support staff
- Maintain confidentiality, respect program policies, and uphold the ethics of peer work
- Share aspects of your recovery journey when appropriate to inspire and support others
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe environment
- Assist Counsellors in developing/suggesting appropriate strategies and interventions in response to client needs or concerns
Qualifications
- Lived experience with addiction and recovery is required
- Minimum 1 year of sustained recovery (self-defined and stable)
- Previous experience in peer support, group facilitation, outreach, or mentorship (an asset)
- Strong emotional intelligence and ability to hold space without judgment
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and reflective supervision
- Ability to set and maintain healthy boundaries within the peer role
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Background Check required
- Availability for evening, weekend, or flexible shifts is an asset
