The Role:
The HR Generalist is responsible for providing day-to-day operational support across a wide range of human resources functions, with a strong emphasis on recruitment. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of solid experience in managing the full hiring cycle while supporting general HR tasks like onboarding, employee relations, and administration.
Major Responsibilities:
Recruitment:
- Manage full-cycle recruitment: job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, background checks, and offers.
- Source candidates via job boards, social media, and referrals.
- Assist with employer branding and talent pool development.
Onboarding & Training:
- Facilitate new hire orientation and basic training sessions.
Employee Relations:
- Respond to employee inquiries about HR policies and benefits.
- Support employee engagement initiatives.
HR Administration:
- Maintain employee records and update HR systems.
- Assist with HR reporting and general administrative duties.
Compliance and Policy Support
- Ensure HR practices comply with Ontario ESA, Quebec CNESST/CSST legislation, OHSA, Human Rights Code, and relevant provincial and federal laws.
- Support the review and implementation of company HR policies and employee handbook updates.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in and lead HR initiatives and projects as assigned by the HR Director.
- Collaborate with payroll coordinators on employee-related changes and enrollments.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred.
- 1+ years’ experience in recruitment and general HR.
- Knowledge of recruitment best practices and basic employment laws.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office; ATS and HRIS experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin); ability to read and type Chinese is an asset.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Able to handle confidential matters with integrity and professionalism.
