A1-Global College of Health, Business & Technology, Hamilton is recruiting an experienced and ambitious Student Advisor / Admission Counselor to join our Team. Candidates should be open-minded individuals who see the potential in people and who believe in lifelong learning. The college is looking for a dedicated and experienced Financial Aid Officer to join our team in Hamilton. In this role, you will oversee the college’s financial aid programs, provide guidance to students on available funding options, and support them in obtaining financial assistance through OSAP and other sources.. This is an in-person role.

Roles and Responsibilities including but not limited to the following (may vary by focus):
- Handle financial aid applications, identifying and obtaining necessary documents, determining eligibility, financial aid advising/counselling and communicating with students.
- Provide personalized counseling and advising sessions to prospective students to empower them in making well-informed decisions by advising them on financial aid options, eligibility requirements, application procedures, and deadlines in accordance with the policies and regulations set forth by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
- Guide students through the application & enrollment process
- Clearly explain admission requirements, criteria, and deadlines
- Supervise the collection and verification of all necessary documents
- Develop, improve and implement administrative processes and procedures for full and part-time financial aid programs.
- Managing programs and processes such as advanced planning for students, Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment, Cost Codes, OSAP, and other financial aid initiatives.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of all financial aid applications, disbursements, and budgets in compliance with Ministry of Colleges and Universities and Private Career Colleges Act.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate disbursement of financial aid funds in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of all provincial and federal financial aid regulations and ensure that college policies and procedures are up to date and in compliance with these regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student financial aid information and records.
- Participate in financial aid outreach and education programs to promote financial literacy and awareness among students and staff.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures and ensure their effective implementation and communication to students.
- Prepare and submit required financial aid reports to the Ministry of Colleges and Universities in accordance with established deadlines.
- Organize and participate in admission events such as campus tours, open houses, information sessions and other off-site events
- Train Student Advisors and staff about financial aid policies and procedures.
- Offer expert guidance on financial aid opportunities, scholarships, grants, and tuition assistance programs.
- Respond to student inquiries and escalate academic issues when necessary
- Monitor application statuses and follow up on missing documents.
- Collaborate with and support the college’s administrative team by maintaining accurate records and ensuring smooth financial aid processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or equivalent professional experience
- 1–2 years experience in postsecondary education, academic advising, or program coordination preferred
- Strong organizational, communication and time-management skills; able to prioritize tasks independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail; comfortable working with data and tracking systems
- Strong problem-solving ability, particularly in fast-paced environments
- Professional, responsive, and dependable under pressure
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., finance, administration, or education) is preferred.
- Experience in financial aid or administrative roles is an asset.
- Familiarity with OSAP processes is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google platform and ability to learn new systems.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages will be an asset.

Position Details:
- Full-time, in-person role
- Salary range: $44,000 – $50,000 annually (commensurate with experience and based on work week of 44 hours.)
- Start date: Will be advised.
- Location: Hamilton campus in-person.
