Summary
As a Family and Youth Worker at Family Ties Association, you will play a vital role in supporting young individuals as they navigate challenges and develop essential life skills. This position is based in Southern Alberta and is integral to our commitment to fostering well-being and resilience among youth.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and mentorship to family and youth in various settings.
- Promote the protection and well-being of children in their home through expedient and flexible interventions;
- Promote personal growth and skill development, such as problem-solving, relationship, social, parenting and coping.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community organizations to enhance service delivery.
- Conduct assessments to identify individual needs and create tailored service plans.
- Enhance awareness and utilization of community resources and social supports;
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, progress, and outcomes for reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- Experience working with family and youth in a supportive or educational capacity
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge and experience of local Indigenous cultures and/or knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action would be considered an asset.
Requirements
- Minimum certificate, diploma or degree in a relevant Human Service field (i.e. Child and Youth Care, Criminal Justice, Rehabilitation Services, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license – must be non-GDL with 3 years insurance experience.
- Must have minimum of 2-million-dollar liability on car insurance
- Evening availability
Successful candidate is required to submit a recent Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check.
