Job Summary
The Youth Worker plays a vital role in supporting and guiding children and adolescents in various settings, including schools, community centers, and recreational programs. This position involves working closely with young individuals to foster their personal development, provide educational support, and promote positive social interactions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth, particularly those with disabilities, and possess the skills necessary to educate and empower them.
Duties
- Provide direct support to children and adolescents in individual or group settings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs tailored to meet the needs of youth.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, ensuring that those with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations.
- Engage youth in activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Monitor behavior and provide guidance to help resolve conflicts or challenges that arise.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to create comprehensive support plans for youth.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for each individual served.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to youth work.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or adolescents in a professional or volunteer capacity is preferred.
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with youth and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to educate youth on various topics related to personal development, social skills, and academic success.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping young people succeed.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate program schedules.
