Purpose of the Role:

The Director, Asset Management, Real Estate will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of several members of the Vancouver Real Estate Asset Management team, along with managing a diverse portfolio of properties and asset types in an organization that blends the advantages of a well-capitalized investor group with those of a smaller, more entrepreneurial and agile organization.

This role is located in our downtown Vancouver Real Estate office. This role is in office 5 days per week.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop assigned Asset Managers and Analysts, fostering a high-performance culture through regular coaching, feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
  • As a "player/coach", have an exceptional work ethic as an Asset Manager, demonstrating and driving others towards a superior level of execution.
  • Champion a collaborative, supportive environment within a culture of both excellence and constant improvement. With a results-focus and action-orientation, empower others to solve challenges together and celebrate shared success.
  • Day-to-day management of Asset Managers, including regular 1:1s, performance management, goal setting, coaching, feedback, training and development.
  • Drive net income growth and create strategies for value enhancement by managing the leasing, operational and financial performance of an assigned portfolio including office, industrial and multi-unit residential assets.
  • Maximize the total return of each asset through the analysis of property efficiencies and identify opportunities for improved performance.
  • Foster brokerage relationships across multiple locations within Canada and the US.
  • Take ownership for leasing within portfolio. Collaborating with VP, develop marketing and leasing strategies, negotiate lease terms and ensure effective administration and systems (Yardi, Deal Manager).
  • Direct and work closely with third-party property managers in the development of annual operating budgets including capital investment programs, and the day-to-day execution and oversight of same.
  • Review and analyze third-party appraisals, market trends, and valuation changes to inform decision-making.
  • Monitor development and construction stages, providing strategic input and oversight, and being accountable for progress.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ of experience in the commercial real estate industry with exposure to a combination of industrial, office, retail, and multifamily properties in a fiduciary capacity.
  • Proven track record of exceptional people leadership with 5+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Development management, along with strata sales experience, are an asset.
  • Strong software applications skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Argus); experience with SharePoint and Yardi a plus.
  • Completion of bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or a related field.
  • Some travel to the US and within Canada is required. Must have a valid drivers' license and access to a vehicle.

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a base salary range of $175,000- $230,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
