Asset Management Technician

What you will do:
Reporting to the Deputy Treasurer or their delegate, as part of the Finance Department, the successful candidate will perform duties in accordance with departmental and corporate work plans and priorities, including but not limited to the following:
- Collecting and maintaining data on asset condition, performance, and costs.
- Managing GIS data related to municipal assets.
- Collaborating with internal departments and external agencies to ensure accurate asset and GIS data.
- Developing and implementing processes for asset data collection, condition inspections, and mapping.
- Creating maps, datasets, and reports to support planning and decision-making.
- Supporting asset management performance measurement, policy development, and risk assessment.
- Participating in cross-departmental teams to ensure coordinated project delivery.
- Providing technical support and advice on GIS and asset management systems.
What the ideal candidate will possess:
- University or college degree with a focus and/or experience in engineering, software application, geographical information systems or equivalent.
- 3 years experience with ArcGIS and ESRI suite of extensions. Specifically, ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, Esri Geodatabase and ArcGIS online
- Asset Management Training and/or Certification (or a desire to undertake during employment).
- Experience in the design, construction, rehabilitation and operations of assets.
- Experience in public sector financial controls and budgeting in an asset management role.
- Experience in operation of an Asset Management database system (PSD Citywide or similar) would be an asset.
- Experience developing business cases using life cycle costing and multi-criteria analysis.
- Capable of working in the field to collect data for GIS and asset management purposes.
- Proven experience working cooperatively across multiple organizational departments to achieve program objectives.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
What we will require:
- A Police Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the Municipality
- Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualifications, if applicable
- Three valid references for a background check
