Willowbrae Academy Crestmont is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and flexible Assistant Director!
Under the direction and supervision of the Academy Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the coordination, supervision, and implementation of all aspects of the operation of the Academy, including admissions, operations, and programs. When the Director is absent it will be the sole responsibility of the Assistant Director to perform these tasks. The Assistant Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of direct child care and may be required to be in ratio from time to time. The Assistant Director will coordinate and run all after hour programs that the Academy offers, and is also required to perform other related tasks and duties assigned by the company.
Qualifications
- Level 3 Early Childhood Education certificate with a diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, or acceptable equivalent
- Standard First Aid and CPR
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
- Minimum of three years relevant practical experience in licensed child care
- Evidence of proficiency in administrative responsibilities
- Experience in supervising employees an asset
Responsibilities and Duties
Professionalism
- follow the philosophy of Willowbrae Academy program and be able to communicate its goals and objectives to others
- attend regular staff meetings for the purpose of program discussion, pre-planning, staff communication and relations, individual child development assessment and general business
- attend workshops, conferences and training sessions, and to join associations related to day care
- keep all information pertaining to children, families, staff and the director confidential
- demonstrate behavioral change as a result of constructive criticism and suggestions
Program Management
- help recruit, orient and coordinate new employees and volunteers
- develop and implement the program through direction, participation, and ongoing evaluation
- facilitate the management of children's activities and routines
- arrange evaluation and programming for children with special needs
- supervise the activities of the staff and to ensure that the children's individual needs are being met by the program
- continually participate as a member of the team with others in the academy, including director, teacher's aides, substitutes, students, volunteers, and parents; respect each individual's ideas, opinions, and suggestions.
Staff Supervision
- delegate staff duties
- communicate with staff daily, implement procedures for solving problems that may occur, respond to individual and group needs
- make staff aware of changes in enrollment when they occur
- inform staff on a daily basis of parental concerns regarding children
- maintain personnel files
- act as a resource for and work with staff members to ensure policy procedure and program needs are met
- assist, advise and evaluate practicum students.
Health and Safety
- implement monthly practice procedure for fire and other emergencies
- assist in keeping a readily accessible and current list of phone numbers for contacting parents and emergency services
- monitor and replenish first aid supplies when used
- familiarize self with all safety rules and health practices regarding the academy and the children
