We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and the IFC in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.
The opportunity: An employee in this role will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for clients and community programs delivered by Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Inc. The role ensures food safety standards are met while providing meals that cater to diverse dietary needs and preferences.
The Cook works collaboratively with program staff to plan menus, support special events, and accommodate dietary needs.
What you need to bring with you:
- High School Diploma or
- Food Handler Certification (required).
- Culinary Arts or Nutrition Certificate/Diploma (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of cooking experience in institutional or community
- Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and
- Knowledge and experience of Anishinabek Health and Traditional healing
- Excellent oral and written communication
- A clear criminal reference check is a condition of
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to prepare meals for groups of various
- Capable of accurately assessing the amount of food and other supplies
- Knowledge of nutrition and food safety
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized

What to expect? Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur.
