As a Contracts & Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationship Management within our Information and Technology category. Your goal will be to drive efficiency, enhance supplier collaboration, and implement sourcing strategies that support Irving Oil’s business objectives. Your success will be measured by streamlined procurement processes, impactful sourcing strategies, and strong supplier relationships.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement multi-year category sourcing strategies utilizing best practices
  • Manage the strategic sourcing process, including RFx initiatives, proposal evaluations, negotiation strategies, contract negotiations, execution, and maintenance
  • Identify external and internal stakeholders and their requirements and engage appropriately in activities.
  • Facilitate internal Total Cost of Ownership reduction initiatives and identify savings opportunities
  • Manage contracts and supplier relationships, including the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and increased value
  • Implement supply management methodologies, processes, policies and procedures
  • Identify issues, develop hypotheses, establish data frameworks, conduct analyses, draw conclusions and develop proposals
  • Understand and align markets, strategies, priorities and plans
Your Skills:
  • Strong understanding of IT systems and contracts, including vendor drafted contracts, licensing agreements, infrastructure and application contracting, professional services agreements, scopes of work, and other agreements
  • Understand legal concepts as they pertain to proposals, contracting and executing on existing contracts
  • Ability to judge complex situations, identify critical aspects of issues, creatively use data sources, structure complex analyses, think through solutions, develop recommendations and sell to stakeholders
  • Ability to incorporate industry best practices such as IT Infrastructure Library
  • Ability to develop strategic visions and create plans for implementation
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, network, and build relationships
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and persuasion skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and cost modeling skills
  • Ability to evaluate and mitigate commercial risks
Your Experience:
  • University Degree in Business or related field of study
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience within contracts and procurement roles, and proven experience negotiating and managing IT contracts
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or similar designation an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint (create, populate, update)
