YOUR ROLE
The Commodity Specialist leads the Source-to-Settle procurement process for the IT category. This role is responsible for developing long-term sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, driving continuous improvement in procurement processes, and delivering value through strategic supplier partnerships.
A strong understanding of strategic sourcing—including spend analysis, contract negotiation, total cost of ownership (TCO), and stakeholder collaboration—is essential.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic: 35%
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support business initiatives and align procurement strategies with company objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams to define business requirements and develop strategic category plans that drive value and mitigate risk.
- Conduct spend analysis, market research, and industry benchmarking to inform sourcing strategies.
- Manage supplier relationships using SRM tools and best practices to ensure performance and innovation.
- Track and report on savings and performance metrics to ensure targets are met.
Operational: 35%
- Execute sourcing strategies and manage the end-to-end Source-to-Settle process.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities and apply innovative sourcing models to drive efficiency.
- Lead contract negotiations with new and existing suppliers in collaboration with Legal and stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations using a total cost approach to support risk management and value creation.
- Prepare and present reports to the Indirect Procurement Director as required.
- Maintain and update the supplier database to ensure accuracy and usability.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks within your area of expertise to ensure that Aldo achieves its financial goals.
- Foster and participate in a culture of risk awareness by promoting best practices in risk management.
Leadership: 30%
- Participate in regular one-on-one meetings with the Indirect Procurement Director to align on goals, projects, and development.
- Set and track annual individual goals aligned with departmental objectives.
- Complete mid-year and year-end performance reviews in collaboration with leadership.
- Support HR initiatives by completing VOA surveys and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Attend company-wide and departmental meetings to stay aligned with organizational priorities.
- Promote ESG practices in line with ALDO’s values and policies.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive procurement transformation and enhance ALDO’s competitive position.
- Advocate for procurement best practices and ensure stakeholder buy-in across the organization.
- Increase visibility of the Indirect Procurement function and its value to internal teams.
- Participate in volunteer and community engagement activities, both individually and as a team.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, or Economics required; MBA is an asset.
- Professional certifications (e.g., C.P.M., CPSM, CIRM, CPIM, SCMP) are preferred.
- Proficient in procurement systems and digital tools.
Experience:
- 5–7 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on indirect categories.
- Proven experience in managing complex vendor selection and negotiation processes.
- Industry-specific experience required.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, TCO, lifecycle costing, and supplier management.
- Understanding of the indirect procurement landscape, including supplier markets, cost drivers, and emerging technologies.
