Heritage Family Services is currently hiring an experienced Team Lead Worker to join our team supporting children and youth in care in Red Deer, Alberta.
We are seeking someone who is authentic, responsible, organized, and service-oriented. The ideal candidate will be described by others as outgoing and dependable, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships through a trauma-informed approach.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Team Lead, your role will include but is not limited to:
Building trusting relationships while showing respect for individuality
Ensuring a safe and secure environment by following agency protocols and reducing anxiety
Leading shifts by offering coaching, guidance, and support to both youth and staff
Facilitating daily routines and youth-focused programming
Assisting in meal preparation and other daily tasks
Celebrating and promoting the youth's self-esteem and personal identity
Advocating for the rights and needs of each child/youth, including liaison with the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate
Creating a nurturing environment that supports the youth’s emotional well-being
Teaching life skills such as emotional regulation, social processing, and problem-solving
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum 2-year Diploma in a Human Services-related field
At least 3 years of experience working with children or youth in care
Must be 18 years or older
Pre-employment documents required:
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
Child Intervention Check
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License for 3 or more years in Canada
Driver’s Abstract (less than 6 demerits)
Strong knowledge of child development, trauma and loss, and therapeutic care models
Proficiency in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or similar models
Cultural competency and respect for Indigenous beliefs and traditions
Ability to support diverse communities, gender identities, and sexualities with inclusive language and practices
Strong cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills, especially with marginalized populations
Mandatory Requirements:

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months
A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months
Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver’s License for 3 or more years in Canada
A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months
Copy of education listed in resume.
