Azure Systems Administrator

We're looking for an Azure Systems Administrator to help manage secure, reliable Azure and enterprise systems in a hybrid environment. This role supports our ongoing cloud modernization while maintaining core on-premises infrastructure. You'll work on Azure Landing Zone governance, automation, migrations, and provide day-to-day operational support for identity, networking, servers, and endpoints.

What can I expect to do in this role?You will:
- Design, configure, and support Azure IaaS/PaaS services, including networking, compute, and identity
- Build and maintain a secure Azure Landing Zone that enables scalable and policy-compliant onboarding of workloads using management groups, Azure Policy, and RBAC
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Bicep, ARM, Terraform)
- Implement monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
- Support migrations of workloads to Azure following DevSecOps practices
- Develop and deploy Azure Functions to support automation, orchestration, and monitoring use cases
- Collaborate with DevOps, security, and application teams to ensure consistency across environments
- Support systems operations, incident response, patching, and security hardening of endpoints and servers
- Administer on-prem systems including Active Directory, device management (e.g., Intune), and enterprise networking (LAN, firewalls, switches) where applicable

What you bring to the team
Cloud Platform Expertise:
- Experience designing and deploying scalable cloud environments with Azure Landing Zones
- Strong knowledge of Azure-native services including Azure Policy, Key Vault, App Services, Defender for Cloud
- Skilled in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Azure Functions
- Familiarity with hybrid networking, including VPNs, Private Endpoints, and enterprise connectivity
- Familiarity with cloud cost management practices using Microsoft's Well-Architected Framework
Security & Compliance Knowledge:
- Understanding of Zero Trust security concepts and cloud security posture management
- Experience applying enterprise compliance controls in cloud environments
- Knowledge of identity and access management across Entra ID/Azure AD tenants and federated environments
Systems Administration:
- Experience managing enterprise systems, networks, and Active Directory
- Hands-on support of end-user computing, patching, and security controls
- Solid understanding of IT operations including incident, change, and configuration management
Analytical, Communication & Project Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities in integrated, multi-cloud or hybrid environments
- Ability to prepared detailed technical documentation, diagrams, and operational playbooks
- Experience working in agile or hybrid project delivery teams
Asset Qualifications
- Experience with Azure Arc, Defender for Endpoint, Purview, AD FS, GitHub or Azure DevOps, and M365
- Public sector or regulated environment experience
