Activities Assistant
We are currently hiring an Activities Assistant to create, coordinate and facilitate school activities, recreational activities, trips, and events that support our local and dormitory students after school and on weekends.
Schedule Overview:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: 3 weekdays of administration duties (Part time) with the option of becoming full-time with the addition of weekend driving duties (able to obtain class 4 unrestricted license within first 3 months of employment)
- Flexibility is required based on activity schedules and/or needs of the school such as supervision/chaperone for activities or day/overnight trips.
- $24.00-$27.00 per hour plus 4% in lieu (Dependent on experience and obtaining Class 4 unrestricted driver's license).
- Eligibility for enrolment in our Health and Dental benefits after 3-month probationary period along with participation in our meal taxable benefit.
- Lunch meal as a taxable benefit.
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities for our local and international students from grades 4-12 to promote wellness and personal growth and build community.
- Support the coordination and programming of the after-school activities program and weekend/school trips (e.g., programming, scheduling, bookings, student charges).
- After school activities Gr 4-12
- Annual field trips to Outdoor Education camps Gr 4-7
- Overnight trips: camping, surfing, touring etc. Gr 8-12
- Ski day trips to Mt Washington Gr 4-12
- Supervise/chaperone occasional day trips/overnight trips, activities, lunch hour activities or wherever needed
- Transport students to planned activities using the school vans and buses
- Opportunity to run and lead after school activities (athletic, creative or service)
- Manage student registration, sign up, transportation and logistics of activities (i.e. purchasing supplies)
- Manage equipment care and inventory.
- Communicate with staff, students and parents by providing information on activities
- Communicate with third party vendors and businesses
Requirements for this position:
- Current BC Class 4 unrestricted license or able to obtain within the first 3 months of employment. This position requires driving all school vehicles including small 20-24 passenger buses.
- Must pass and maintain a clear Ministry of Public Service criminal record check for the purposes of working with vulnerable children.
- Diploma or Degree in Recreation, Outdoor Recreation or related discipline an asset.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft excel, word, Canva, and school program systems)
- Previous experience working in summer camps, recreational programming, or with international students is an asset.
- Standard First Aid with CPR C.
- Strong communication and written skills.
- Punctual, reliable and versatile.
- Able to work cooperatively and with minimal supervision.
