We are a well established custom manufacturer of wood veneer sheets and architectural plywood panels, seeking a full-time veneer specialist. Our shop is located only a few minutes walk from Royal Oak Skytrain station in Burnaby.
The ideal candidate must have a keen eye for detail and take pride in their work. Extensive woodworking experience specifically in veneering is required. We are a relatively small, and close-knit shop, and the opportunity for advancement is great.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect quality and verify quantity of wood veneer to be used for a specific order.
- Based on architectural drawings and/or panel layouts, determine component widths/lengths and cut using Double Knife Guillotines and End Clipper
- Organize and maintain sequence and prepare for joining veneer edges on Splicers
- Mix splicing adhesive and operate veneer Longitudinal Splicer and Crossfeed Splicer to compose specific veneer sheets
- Reinforce edges with veneer tape and repair any splits or cracks
- Apply adhesive to core by Hand Roller or Glue Applicator machine and apply veneer to both sides in veneer Hot Press
- Flush trim edges of core after pressing using hand router
- Set up wide belt sander and feed, outfeed panels. Inspect for quality control.
