Position: Web Copywriter (12 months)

Compensation Details:
- Marketing Generalist 17 : Salaries typically range from $83,037 to $110,717 annually, based on qualifications and experiences.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.

Team Overview:
As the Web Copywriter at Export Development Canada (EDC) shapes the digital voice of the organization, creating compelling and strategic web content that engages a diverse audience and aligns with EDC’s mission to support Canadian exporters. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, and development, to ensure the web presence is both informative and persuasive. With a strong emphasis on SEO and user experience, the Web Copywriter crafts content that drives traffic, enhances user engagement, and converts visitors into leads. Additionally, the Web Copywriter will define best practices and train content creators on web copywriting.
What you will be doing:
Web Copywriting:
- Develop and write clear, persuasive, and engaging web copy.
- Collaborate with the Web Experience Scrum team to integrate copy into wireframes and web designs effectively.
- Utilize Generative AI tools to assist in creating and refining web copy.
- Review and edit web copy to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with brand voice and guidelines.
Stakeholder Management:
- Conduct intake sessions with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand project objectives.
- Review and interpret documents provided by stakeholders to create accurate and effective web copy.
- Communicate with stakeholders to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
Translation Management:
- Coordinate with translation services to manage the translation of web content.
- Ensure translated content maintains the original message and tone and is suited for web.
Best Practices and Training:
- Define and document best practices for web copywriting.
- Develop and deliver training sessions for content creators on web copywriting techniques and standards.
Web Strategy and Redesign:
- Conduct thorough research to understand target audiences, industry trends, and competitive landscape and leverage insights to guide content creation.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve the user experience and effectiveness of the EDC.ca website with the usage of customer experience focused copy.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Political Sciences or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in web copywriting or a similar role.
- Proven track record of creating high-quality web content that drives engagement and conversions.
- Strong understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
What will make you stand out:
- Bilingualism in both official languages (English & French)
- Experience in B2B financial services or complex, regulated environments.
