Summary:
Under the supervision of the Marina Services Supervisor, this position entails helping set-up and maintain Kelowna Yacht Club Boat & Paddle Club, as well as being the customer service face for the 1000+ Member Boats. We are looking for a hard-working, self-directed individual who enjoys the outdoors and puts a premium on customer service. Assisting members, maintaining equipment, and enforcing safety measures according to Kelowna Yacht Club and Transport Canada standards will all be involved in this position. This involves working hand in hand with the Supervisor, Watersports and Education Administrator, Instructors, and Dockhands to ensure a safe and fun experience at the Kelowna Yacht Club.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily operations of the rental programs (Safe and Fun!)
- Brief and debrief with the team every day, keeping a strong and energetic attitude
- Ensure the safety of staff, renters, and KYC members
- Orchestrate customer service needs and requests
- Communicate effectively with renters, members, KYC staff, directors, and all other contacts
- Maintenance and repairs of all equipment throughout the summer
- Ensure boats are running well, clean, fueled, and ready at all times
- Assist with repairs and maintenance at the end of the season
- Promote and develop safe boating in the Okanagan
- Understand of the importance of safety regulations
- Assist customers with kayak, paddleboard, and boat rentals
- Assist Marine Mechanic with bookings, charges etc.
- Answer emails and calls
- Manage bookings, charges etc. online
- Audit docks and boats for safety and regulation compliance
- Catch and launch members boats
- Provide dock services to Members (battery boosting, towing etc.)
- Work with the maintenance team on dock and marina upkeep as needed
Pre-Requisites:
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card
- Boat handling experience
- Physically able to lift kayaks, paddleboards, and fuel tanks.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Coach boat safety certification
*The Kelowna Yacht Club may be able to assist you in attainment of these qualifications prior to the start of the season*
Schedule: Seasonal (Mid-June-August, Full time), possible additional work on evenings, weekends and spring/fall seasons with set-up, tear down and rentals.
