Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with examinations, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for both pets and staff. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a desire to learn and grow within the veterinary field.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding animals and preparing necessary equipment
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood draws, urinalysis, and fecal examinations
- Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information in the system
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments, exam rooms, and other areas of the clinic
- Provide compassionate care to animals during their stay at the clinic, including feeding, bathing, and exercising them as needed
- Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes to the veterinarian or technician
Requirements
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a similar role is preferred
- Laboratory experience is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if necessary
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing excellent care
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.20-$22.00 per hour
