Venue Marketing & Events Coordinator
The Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society (FoUVS) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that supports and encourages the use of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV). This position is based at the UCHV with some hybrid work opportunities.
The Venue Marketing & Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for marketing and promoting a new venue currently being constructed by the Friends Society: a covered patio adjacent to the Silska Domiwka/Red Barn located at the Ukrainian Village. Additionally, the role will support the FoUVS board and its representatives in building upon the Society’s mission, vision, and values, with administrative assistance.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing market research, pricing, logistics, and advertising opportunities for the Friends’ new covered patio and its programs and events.
- Draft policies and guidelines for using our new space.
- Maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including staff members, the FoUVS Board, volunteers, donors, government funding agencies, the Government of Alberta, and the general public
- Assisting with deposits, payables, and receivables
- Maintaining memberships, donor files, and accounts
- Reviewing inventory, sales, and recommending merchandise for gift shop
- Providing year-end inventory controls and counts for gift shop
- Assisting with fundraising and grant writing, with support from the Executive Director
- Providing other administrative support services as required
Qualifications:
- Recent post-secondary graduate seeking work experience in marketing, events, logistics, heritage, museums, culture, and/or not-for-profits
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office, Canva, & social media platforms
- Effective communicator and team-oriented attitude
- Must have own transportation
- Highly organized and able to work alone and in a team atmosphere
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
- Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines
- Must be self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision
- Good knowledge of email, scheduling, spreadsheets and presentation software
- Ability to represent the society to staff, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented
- Familiarity with grants and fundraising
Eligibility:
Candidates must be recent graduates of post-secondary studies and be eligible to the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage program. An individual may be eligible for a BCH internship if they:
-are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);
-are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);
-are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and
-are a college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor's, master's or doctorate).
