Events and Marketing Coordinator
With Canada’s largest farm heritage festival as its signature event, the Manitoba Agricultural Museum is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and creatively minded Events and Marketing Coordinator to lead the organization’s events management and marketing activities.
The Manitoba Agricultural Museum is a charitable organization located near Austin, Manitoba on a 320-acre site with a mission to bring Manitoba’s Prairie farm heritage to life. Open to the public year-round, the museum contains Canada’s largest collection of operating vintage agricultural equipment and a 26-building heritage village containing household and business artifacts. Each year the museum welcomes over 17,000 visitors, nearly 12,000 of which attend the four-day Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion & Stampede (MTRS) festival.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Events and Marketing Coordinator is a vital member of the museum team. The position works closely with the volunteer MTRS festival organizing committee to ensure the success of the annual event every July.
Key Position Responsibilities
Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion & Stampede Festival Coordination
- Lead festival planning and implementation, including venue set-up, equipment rentals, signage, ticketing, and regulatory permit applications.
- Support development and management of event timelines, site plans and checklists.
- Manage vendors, suppliers, exhibitors and contractors to ensure all elements are delivered on time and within budget parameters.
- Organize a diverse lineup of activities including concerts, children’s activities, etc.
- Oversee development of communication products for the festival, including festival visitor guide, social media posts and advertisements.
- Deliver post event evaluation and reporting as required.

Marketing
- Manage museum social media platforms by creating posts, monitoring engagement, and contributing creative ideas to grow online presence and establish new followings.
- Monitor website content to ensure it reflects organizational brand goals.
- Publish organization’s bi-monthly newsletter
- Assist with marketing initiatives across various channels, including paid & earned media.
Event Planning & Management
- Coordinate museum events including venue set-up, signage, marketing and ticketing.
- Ensure events and functions receive and comply with all required regulatory permits, including public health, liquor and gaming permits etc.
- Manage online booking systems, such as CampSpot, EventSprout and JoinIt.
- Coordinate, communicate and motivate all staff and volunteers to ensure outstanding guest service within event and function spaces.
- Manage facility rentals program for on site private events and meetings.
- Maintain accurate documentation and record keeping.
Position Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in event planning and/or marketing and communications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – able to liaise with diverse stakeholders including artists, contractors, community groups and volunteers.
- Strong agility to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors, on-site, and in a dynamic team setting.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and social media management.
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset.
Working Conditions
- The hours of work generally fall between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday, a 37.5-hour week with an unpaid 30-minute lunch.
- Schedule flexibility is required to support evening and weekend events and meetings. Longer daily hours are required during and leading up to the MTRS festival.
- The museum values a healthy work-life balance and supports a hybrid work structure where employees may work remotely based on tasks and seasonal requirements. Working from the office is required for tasks requiring a high degree of collaboration with staff and volunteers.
