The Toyota Certified Technician diagnoses problems, performs repairs and provides preventative maintenance service on material handling equipment at a customer’s site.
Specific Accountabilities
- Performs repairs and services on various types of material handling equipment and its components including forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters.
- Performs preventive maintenance and Lift Device Inspection at prescribed intervals of time and repairs on various types of material handling equipment including forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters.
- Sound knowledge of utilizing electronic manuals, use of digital voltage meters and applicable diagnostic software for repairing/servicing of material handling equipment.
- Sound knowledge of electrical/electronic component diagnosis.
- Uses instruction manuals and wiring diagrams to diagnose components, and electrical wiring.
- Ensures work performed is verified and the truck returned to the customer clean and operational.
- Ensures customer work area is clean and free of debris, oil and grease.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Education & Work Experience
College diploma and/or completion of a trade school certification or equivalent work experience. 3-5 years’ experience as an auto, forklift, heavy equipment or truck and coach mechanic. A valid driver’s license is required.
Experience repairing Toyota Products preferred. A valid driver’s license and provincial propane license (ICE-IE-P or ICE-P) are required. Power Lift Truck License (PLT) is preferred.

- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems of battery and Internal Combustion powered material handling equipment
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
- Knowledge of the use of hand tools and measuring devices
- Knowledge of the use of electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced and changing environment
A Toyota Certified Technician will work in a variety of environments depending on customer facilities such as a warehouse, shop, parking lot etc. Including varying temperatures and subjected to dust, dirt, grease and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment. Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds.
