Summary
Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Hauling Operator(s) will be responsible for operating an Articulated Rock Truck in a safe and responsible manner. The operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures. This is a fixed-term position, with multiple contract lengths available, including 11-month, 7-month, and 4-month options.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the operational integrity of the Mining department as required; to achieve safety, environmental, quality, costs, production and continuous improvement targets
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports
- Report unsafe mechanical conditions to a supervisor
- Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment
- Follow established traffic patterns avoiding road hazards and other hazardous conditions
Skills & Experience
- 2 or more years experience running heavy equipment or operating a haul truck is preferable
- Attention and compliance to established safety rules and guidelines is paramount
- Ability to stay alert and pay attention to detail during all hours and weather conditions encountered during a shift
- Ability to safely climb and access equipment, as well as lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
- Strong leadership/team skills and the ability to work independently as required
- Experience in an open pit mining environment is an asset
- Valid Canadian Drivers License and clear driver's abstract required
Working Conditions
- Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7x7 work schedule, 12 hours per day
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
- Exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
- Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James, Mackenzie and Smithers.
