The Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government is a member of the Maa-nulth Treaty Society and, through the Maa- nulth First Nations Final Agreement, is a modern treaty Nation operating with a government-to- government relationship with Canada and the province of British Columbia. As a Self-Governing Indigenous Government, the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government continues to promote education and community programs that enhance Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ identity. This is a Term position starting July 4, 2025, and ending on August 22, 2025.

Position Summary

The Department of Huuḥtakšiiḥinʔaała is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and reliable Summer Program Assistants to support the delivery of non-licensed, land and culture-based summer day programming for Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ children and youth aged 7–16. Working alongside the Summer Program Lead, Assistants will help deliver daily activities, supervise children and youth, and promote a safe and inclusive environment grounded in Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Summer Program Lead in delivering daily activities, both indoors and outdoors
  • Supervise children and youth during crafts, games, meals, outings, and free play
  • Promote a welcoming, respectful, and culturally safe environment for all participants
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of activity spaces and materials
  • Participate in outings and maintain required supervision ratios
  • Build positive relationships with children and youth, role modeling kind and respectful behavior
  • Assist with documenting attendance, incidents, and daily reports as required
  • Participate in training sessions and daily team debriefs
  • Follow all safety procedures, maintain daily logs and tracking sheets
  • Support programming across various age groups as assigned

Qualifications

Training, Education and Experience

  • Responsible Adult Certification preferred (ECEA, ECE, or Diploma/Bachelor of CYC an asset)
  • Experience working with children and youth in a group setting (ages 7–16 preferred)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in active and varied environmental conditions
  • Willingness to learn about and incorporate Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ values and teachings
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Valid First Aid & CPR-C (or willingness to obtain before starting date)
  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector clearance (Criminal Records Review)
  • Class 4 Driver’s License considered an asset
