Reporting to the Game Presentation Director, the Video and Stats Attendant will be responsible for the collection, recording, interpretation of the game statistics, timing, reviewing, and recording game results. This role will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the recorded data, providing valuable insights to coaches, players, and analysts and will contribute to the smooth operation of the hockey games.
What you’ll do:
- Accurately timing game stoppages, resetting the game clock as needed, and monitor proper clock functionality, including intermissions and time-outs;
- Accurately record penalties assessed by On-Ice Officials, ensuring precise documentation and timely player releases from the penalty box;
- Coordinate with Penalty Timekeeper to manage the penalty box, releasing players on schedule, and adhering to League guidelines for puck replacement;
- Monitor video replay headset for necessary video reviews and game clock adjustments;
- Organize media breaks per established guidelines and notify broadcasters, On-Ice Officials, and fellow Off-Ice Officials about upcoming and completed commercial time-outs;
- Illuminate the red light to signal Referee-confirmed goals and thoroughly review scoring plays on video for accuracy;
- Precisely interpret game events and entering them into the League scoring system, encompassing shots, goals, assists, penalties, and plus/minus and relay relevant information to the Public Address Announcer;
- Additional duties as assigned.
What’s needed:
- Thorough understanding of the intricate rules and nuances of hockey;
- Positive communication skills, enabling effective interactions with fellow teammates, players, and officials to gather and disseminate critical game-related information;
- Adept problem-solving abilities;
- Capacity to excel under pressure, maintaining composure and precision while managing time-sensitive tasks during fast-paced game scenarios;
- Proficiency in utilizing computer systems, leveraging technological tools to efficiently compile, process, and communicate game statistics;
- Ability to work at minimum, half the Ottawa 67’s home games:
- Bilingualism in English & French is an asset.
