Who We Are
Montreal Improv is a vibrant theatre dedicated to comedy, creativity, and community. With over 400 shows each year, we are best known for our improv performances — but our stage also hosts stand-up (in multiple languages), sketch comedy, musical acts, and more. Every night is different, and our team works together to create a welcoming, professional, and high-energy environment for both performers and audiences. We are currently hiring 3 Sound & Light Technicians (contractual) to ensure smooth and professional technical operations during our shows.
What You’ll Do
A typical shift may include:
- Arriving before the show to set up and test sound and lighting equipment
- Running both sound and light cues during live performances (simultaneously)
- Adapting technical support to improv, stand-up, sketch, and musical shows
- Troubleshooting technical issues quickly and calmly during shows
- Coordinating with performers and staff to ensure smooth transitions and reliable show operations
- Shutting down and properly storing equipment at the end of the night
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience operating both sound and lighting equipment in a live performance setting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure
- Reliability and professionalism — the show depends on you
- Ability to work evenings and weekends (Thursday–Sunday, approx. 400 shows/year)
- Must be fluent in French
- Bonus: Familiarity with improv comedy and theatre culture
