The Community Services Department is currently recruiting for enthusiastic Skate Monitors to contribute to the Drop-in Skate and Shinny Hockey Programs at City Arenas.
What you will do:
- Supervise Public skating and Shinny hockey as scheduled
- Assist, direct and provide information to the public regarding arena programs
- Maintain program attendance and ensure Shinny and Members Skate participants have paid admission
- Advise participants of safety requirements and guidelines
- Follow and enforce rules to ensure the safety of patrons and staff
- Provide outstanding customer service to patrons
- Create a positive workplace environment through respectful interactions with recreation facility staff
- Respond to emergency situations as needed
- Attend training as required
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned
- Minimum 18 years of age is required
- Completion of Grade 12 or GED
Skills required for success:
- Experience working with the general public, including children
- Skating ability and possession of skates and helmet
- Basic level of proficiency using Google Applications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle difficult situations and provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work independently under minimal or no supervision
- Ability to work in various arena locations throughout the City

Conditions of employment:
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
- Possession of valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR Certification is required
