Fern Kids designs and manufactures high-quality, sustainable children’s furniture, combining creative design with durable craftsmanship. Our shop integrates modern manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, to produce functional and timeless pieces that inspire imaginative spaces for children.
We are seeking a versatile Shop Hand to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, has a passion for quality craftsmanship, and enjoys managing production operations.
1. Sanding and Routering
2. Product Build and Packout
- Assemble furniture products according to provided plans and specifications.
- Ensure all parts are correctly aligned, fastened, and finished to our quality standards.
- Support final packaging and labeling for shipment, ensuring protection and presentation are on brand.
3. Finishing Bay Support
- Assist in applying finishes (clear coats, stains, etc.) as directed.
- Ensure a clean, dust-free environment in the finishing bay.
- Support drying, curing, and handling processes to prevent damage
4. General Floor Help (Sanding, Routering, etc.)
- Perform general tasks across the shop floor, including sanding and routering parts with precision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in your work area.
- Assist other team members where needed to keep workflow efficient.
5. Horizontal CNC Work
- Operate horizontal CNC equipment safely and accurately (training provided if needed).
- Follow digital cut files and technical drawings precisely.
- Maintain CNC workstations, ensuring tools and machinery are in good condition.

Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on experience with CNC machines and woodworking tools.
- Strong understanding of product development, product standards and label requirements
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain machinery.
Preferred Skills:
- Background in furniture manufacturing or design.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50-$21.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
