Job Summary:
The Shop Foreman plays a vital leadership role in the service department, acting as a liaison between technicians and the service management team. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day shop operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately, and safely. The Shop Foreman supports technician development, monitors quality control, and assists in diagnostic work or complex repairs when necessary to maintain productivity and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily activities in the shop, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
Provide guidance, technical support, and mentorship to all technicians, including apprentices.
Perform quality control checks on completed repairs to ensure dealership and OEM standards are met.
Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting of complex vehicle issues.
Assisting with dispatching work to technicians based on skill level and availability to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
Monitor and enforce safety protocols, cleanliness, and proper tool/equipment usage.
Collaborate with service advisors and parts department to ensure parts availability and accurate repair timelines when neccesary.
Provide feedback and support for technician training and skill development.
Work closely with the Service Manager on performance metrics, productivity goals, and technician evaluations.
Help identify recurring repair issues and escalate them appropriately.
Maintain clear documentation of repairs, diagnostics, and any issues encountered during shop operations.
Qualifications:

5+ years of experience as an automotive technician (GM experience preferred).
Red Seal certification or equivalent.
Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills.
Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
Knowledge of GM diagnostic tools and software (GDS2, Techline Connect, etc.).
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Positive attitude with a focus on teamwork and problem-solving.
