Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to oversee the movement of materials, finished goods, and supplies in our Etobicoke facility. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 7 years of related supervisory experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, with a proven track record in logistics coordination, inventory control, and team leadership.
The successful candidate will ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety in all shipping and receiving activities while working closely with production, purchasing, and customer service teams. Reporting directly to the VP, Supply Chain & Logistics, the Supervisor will play a key role in streamlining processes and driving continuous improvement in the warehouse and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company standards.
- Supervise and develop the warehouse team, ensuring adherence to safety policies and best practices.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring materials and finished goods are tracked and stored efficiently.
- Coordinate shipments with carriers, manage logistics schedules, and resolve any freight or delivery issues.
- Ensure finished goods are packaged and staged for on-time delivery to customers.
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, and customer service to align shipping and receiving activities with business needs.
- Implement and monitor KPIs for logistics and warehouse operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 3 – 7 years of supervisory experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse management within the manufacturing sector (durable goods experience preferred).
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
- Proven ability to coordinate logistics, shipping schedules, and freight management.
- Experience with inventory management systems and materials handling.
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations and warehouse best practices.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Forklift license/certification is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or a related field would be considered a strong benefit.
