JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Warehouse Coordinator, the Shipping Clerk will be the coordinator’s right-hand man, performing all tasks associated with preparing products for shipment. He/she will distribute orders from stock to production and quality control, shelving products and indicating inventory adjustments in the computer system. Ensures the accuracy of documentation and items shipped according to all the requirements to meet all specifications and deadlines.
The candidate must be able to work quickly, accurately and under pressure, and have a good memory. He/she must also be meticulous, responsible, have a good work ethic and a positive attitude.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (90%)
Shipping
- Prepare products for packaging and shipping according to the customer order list, ensuring accuracy of all related documentation.
- Pack goods.
- Ensure accuracy and coordinated outgoing orders.
- Verifies quantities, addresses, shipping methods and other important details of all customers and job orders.
- Execute shipping operations in the system.
- Prepare and print shipping documents according to specific customer and carrier requirements (for example: packing slips, shipping labels, commercial invoices, etc.).
- Send invoices to customers by e-mail.
- Deliver goods to internal customers.
- Prepare shipping reports
- Maintain a clean and tidy warehouse.
- Ensure safe working practices and environment in shipping and receiving areas.
- Assist with various and/or physical warehouse tasks.
OTHER (10%)
Finished goods
- Stock finished goods supplied by production
- Complete appropriate paperwork – follow up and transfer to sales, close out sales orders and work orders, enter quantities from RMAs (Return material authorization)
- Maintain accuracy by performing product cycle counts to verify quantities and accuracy of computer data.
- Reports stock-outs.
- Assign locations to finished products and make appropriate changes to the computer.
- Use the FIFO (first in- first out) procedure for product movements.
Receiving
- Receive goods at loading docks and in the company system.
- Communicate and follow up on any receiving problems.
- Carry out checks upon receipt of incoming materials.
- Physically store incoming materials.
Miscellaneous
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Assist with production when required.
- Any other task assigned by the warehouse coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skills:
- Basic knowledge of inventory systems in the manufacturing industry.
- Languages: French/English: English is necessary to be able to communicate with other divisions and or departments.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate flexibility.
- Computer literate.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, committed and dynamic.
- Analytical and organizational skills.
- Emotional intelligence and winning attitude.
- Good physical condition, not afraid of physical work
- Reliability and punctuality.
Education/Experience
- High school certificate
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in a similar position within a manufacturing company
- Certification and/or experience driving a forklift in narrow aisles: this will be required on an occasional basis only, might be once a week.
- First aid member certification in the workplace, an asset
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Factory working conditions. Occasional overtime may be required. Candidate must comply with all safety rules and procedures on all equipment and with respect to the work environment in general.
