Youth Worker Supervisor– Sechelt Youth Centre Tweens and Youth Program

Hours per week - Monday to Friday 2 pm to 6pm
Total: 20-25 hours
WAGE:
Starts at $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and education

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Working collaboratively with the Youth Workers, the successful candidate will help to create a safe and welcoming environment for Tweens and Youth aged 10.5 to 18.
The Youth Worker Supervisor (YWS) plans, sets up, and supervises art, indoor and outdoor cooperative games and sports, cooking activities, and use of computers and gaming.
For Teens aged 13 to 18, the Youth Worker Supervisor will connect with youth, facilitate discussions regarding activities and help youth to implement them safely. They will be responsible for ensuring that cooking, art, and physical activities take place in an inclusive, safe and respectful manner.
The job requires an organized, self directed and mature individual able to work with youth to develop their interests and passions and connect them to community resources and people.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
● Experience working with and supervising school aged children and youth.
● Experience dealing with behavioral challenges.
● Good communication and promotional skills.
● Ability to work in a team.
● Creativity, inventiveness and the skill to adapt activities spontaneously.
● Program Planning experience.
● Able to facilitate cooking, art, music, indoor and outdoor cooperative games and physical activities.
● Valid basic or standard first aid certification and CPR.
● Ability to use Microsoft Office or Google Forms and social media platforms.
● Youth Work or Recreation Diploma or Degree an asset.
