Position Purpose: The Seasonal Stores Clerk is responsible for assisting with the year-end processing and ordering of goods and services. The position will also be responsible for the Zoo courier service and various organizational, clerical and processing duties of moderate complexities within the Stores Unit. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan.
Core Role Responsibilities:
- Year-end processing and ordering of goods and services.
- Providing courier service on various deliveries and pick-ups, as requested.
- Performing mailroom duties including distribution of Zoo inbound and outbound mail.
- Logging outgoing and incoming laundry service (cleaning & repair); distributes incoming laundry to individual staff lockers.
- Maintaining and updating computerized Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP). Inventory records including stock and receipt of new inventory against PO.
- Assisting as required with: Receiving of incoming physical products (boxes, bags, envelopes) that have been delivered by various transportation companies in an efficient manner.
- Checking all goods incoming and outgoing for condition and quantity and crosschecking against actual purchase order, bills of lading, invoices or other records.
- Distribution/ shelving of received ds to appropriate areas and/ or to various stock bins.
- Assisting with third party courier request including: creating waybills and shipping documentation (FedEx, Priority, Purolator, etc.) and making the necessary.
- Telephone calls to ensure prompt pick up.
- Issuing, recording and maintaining of uniform issues to staff.
- Assisting in year-end inventory count.
- Operating vehicle for the delivery of mail and supplies.
- Providing customer service by giving required information to Supervisors and other staff.
- Advising Supervisor of any Health and Safety issues that need to be addressed.
- Keeping work area clean and safe.
- Providing excellent customer service to our guests.
- Follows all policies and branch instructions.
- Attends appropriate training as required.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have a Completion of Grade 12 education, or the equivalent amount of training and related experience. (Courses in warehouse/inventory management preferred.)
- Must have 1 years of proven experience in the same or similar position. (in a comparable role in stock control and stock room procedures, or equivalent, preferably in a computerized environment).
- Familiarity with various inventory items including hardware would be an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of the Greater Toronto Area and vicinity streets and various public and government building.
- Must have good knowledge of business English and spelling, standard office practices and procedures and clear and legible handwriting.
- Experience with inventory management software and accounting systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains).
- Must bring in positive outlook and flexibility and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed tasks and deal with large volumes, interruptions, and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong communications skills.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation an asset.
- Must possess an unrestricted Class G driver’s license valid in the Province of Ontario along with a good driving record. (e.g. driving to various locations onsite in a Zoo vehicle).
- Must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized programs and systems. (MS Office, Email and Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.)
- Must be able to work weekends, shifts and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position. (stand, kneel or stoop) of the job and lift and/or up to 50 pounds.
