We are looking for compassionate reliable individuals to join our team of residential counsellors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate emotional support, encouragement, and informal counseling to residents in an adult residential facility
- Ensure the safety, security, and overall well-being of residents at all times
- Monitor resident behavior and assist with activities of daily living
- Plan, organize, and lead daily recreational and social activities that promote engagement and a sense of community
- Remind residents of scheduled medical appointments and accompany them as needed
- Administer prescribed medications and ensure adherence to treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and detailed shift reports and resident documentation
- Assist with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and general upkeep of the residence
- Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations, providing appropriate support and intervention
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess one of the following diplomas:
- Human Service Counsellor
- Human Service Practitioner
- Social Service Community Worker
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a related human services field
Certifications:
Mandatory:
First Aid and CPR Level C certification
Assets (not mandatory):
- NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) training
- FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) training
- UMAB (Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviours) training
- SafeTALK (Suicide Alertness for Everyone) training
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Training)
- Food Safety certification
