Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will support research and related activities for research projects, under the direction of Principal Investigators, and in collaboration with research staff. The role will assist with research duties to support the operation of the laboratory, including assisting with laboratory maintenance and organization, and to facilitate the achievement of research results, including preparing and conducting experiments and techniques following set protocols and procedures in a research facility, such as cell culture and molecular biology. The role will provide support for clinical activities, including updating related databases, documenting clinical data and assisting with compiling and analyzing research results.
Qualifications
Education:
- 4-year University Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacology, Health Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or relevant discipline
- Master’s Degree in Pharmacology, Health Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or relevant discipline is preferred
Experience:
- 1 year of experience supporting research implementation in a research laboratory environment, including experience with cell culture and molecular techniques
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with research techniques and practices including cell culture, PCR and Western blotting
- Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis and with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and analyses
- Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis and with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and analyses
- Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Ability to follow formal processes and protocols with high attention to detail
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn and use software programs
- Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support
- Ability to identify key results from research and to summarize and draft reports on research findings
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures related to research preferred
