Cermaq Canada is currently seeking a temporary full-time Repair and Maintenance Supervisor for our fish hatchery located in Port Alberni, BC. This temporary position has the potential to lead into a permanent full-time position. Boot Lagoon Hatchery is a very dynamic facility, it has the latest technology and equipment to grow our fish from egg entry through the smolt stage. The hatchery operates a Flow-Through system and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS).

The Repair & Maintenance Supervisor provides support to the hatchery operations in the following ways:
- Maintaining all physical assets of Cermaq Canada including generators, compressors, pumps, chilling systems, buildings, small engines, and a variety of other equipment
- Accurate record keeping and reporting of issues, monitoring inventories, and daily record keeping of maintenance logs. Using our new maintenance software Aquacom up to date
- Maintaining a clean, safe, organized and bio-secure site by performing maintenance and constant effort to keep it that way, including the Maintenance Shop
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned including assisting with hatchery activities when possible
- Comply with safety policies and regulations internally and for WorkSafeBC
- Experience with and understanding of generator operation and maintenance, small engine repairs, 12/24-volt wiring troubleshooting, general building maintenance and basic plumbing. Knowledge on chilling systems will be an asset.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word).
- Working 5 days on and 2 days off. Available to be on call when necessary.
- Reliable transportation to commute to and from work. A valid Driver’s license.

- The position reports to the hatchery’s management team.
- Status: Temporary, full-time position (with potential for permanent)
- Starting wage: $58,240.00 per annum (equivalent to $28.00/ hour)
- Shift: This position operates 5 days a week. Able to work on weekends and to be on call if necessary.
