Job description:
The Red Seal Carpenter (or apprentice) will be responsible for working with the site supervisor to build and erect various building components or site components including rough carpentry, concrete forms or finish carpentry. A keen attention to detail and meticulous focus on completing the task on schedule and without deficiencies. Job responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
- Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
- Supervise apprentices and other construction worker
Job prerequisites and qualifications:
- Level 1 to 4 in carpentry including Red Seal designation
- Level 1 first aid is a definite asset
- Supplementary construction courses will be considered as potential to grow your career and wage adjustment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required
- Positive attitude and a desire to help others
